Comfort Dogs, Including Phoebe from St Paul Ft Worth Deploy to Arkansas

Due to the EF4 Tornado that touched down in Mayflower and Vilonia, Arkansas, on Sunday, April 27, Phoebe and six other K-9 Comfort Dogs from Lutheran Church Charities were deployed to minister to those most affected by the tornado. The team visited over 1,000 children between two elementary schools, and the children as well as the parents and staff were so thankful the dogs could come and help the children feel comfortable about returning to school. In addition to visiting schools, the K-9’s also visited first responders at the hospital and in the sheriff’s remote control facilities. We also individually visited homeowners who would prepare to rebuild for the second time in four years. LCC sent a volunteer chain gang crew as well and we got to see them in action. The city of Conway, Arkansas, declared May 8, 2014 as LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Day, and the Comfort Dog Ministry was given a Key to the City.  God’s mercy and compassion were evident the entire trip and, we give Him the glory for his provision!
